Classification of cycling Groups
for Saturday & Sunday Club rides

  • Weekend Routes
  • Route average speed around 32kph.
  • Rider must be able to maintain this average over the distance on the day for 105KM+
  • Rider should be capable due to consistent training regime below:
    • Training level of doing between 4 and 6 rides per week
    • Minimum distance to be 300KM + weekly
  • Route average speed of around 29kph.
  • Rider must be able to maintain this average over the distance on the day for 80KM+
  • Rider should be capable due to consistent training regime below :
    • Training level of doing between 2 and 4 rides per week
    • Recommended training distance to be 200KM + weekly
  • Route average speed between 26kph
  • Rider must be able to maintain this average over the distance on the day for 50KM+.
  • Rider should be capable due to consistent training regime below:
    • Training level of doing between 1 and 2 rides per week
    • Minimum distance to be 150KM + weekly
  • Route average speed is up to 22kph
  • The Route will be adjusted by Marshalls depending on group strength to build riders to transition into the C group.
  • These are typically beginner riders
  • Recommended Training level is up to 100km per week
  • Group D Saturday route will be
    • From Malagueta
    • Minauch road onto Kruin Str Klopper Park.
    • Right onto Barbara Road
    • Left at SKYNET, Pretoria Rd
    • Straight at La Conga Roadhouse over highway at Spar DC
    • Continuing straight until you get to Madely Road
    • Straight passing East Rand Mall on to Bentel Ave
    • Turning right onto the slipway that then takes you left onto Rondebolt
    • For the longer Route will Turn Right on North Rand Stopping at S4 and continuing Round the airport or route to be adjusted by marshalls to come back to SKF if group is sill building up to Full airport loop.
    • For Short continuing Straight up Rondebolt and taking a left on Yaldwyn
    • Then taking a right at the robot at Taljaard and left at the Robot by RTT onto Jones Road.
    • Continuing up Jones past Emperors and passing SAA Tech on the right.
    • Taking the slipway left and Southern Sun and Turning right onto Elecron.
    • Staight up Electron and Left onto Isando Road and Right onto Barbra Road
    • Past BMW, Avis and onto Minauch back to Starting point.

When a rider returns from illness or injury; it is recommended that they start with a slower Group.
